Message from the Superintendent

June 2020

I hope all of you are safe and well.  The disruption to all of our lives caused by the COVID-19 health crisis has been profound, and I know you are seeking clarity on the Oroville Union High School District’s plan for reopening the 20-21 school year.

We are currently working with a group of teachers, staff, parents and community members to develop a reopening plan.  We are trying to develop a plan that takes safety precautions for all into account as well as a plan to continue distance learning if the district/schools are ordered to close again due to another outbreak.

We also developing plans for disinfecting facilities, feeding students and transporting students.  All of these important issues take time and a lot of thought to develop plans that keep people safe as well as meeting the requirements of law.

OUHSD plans to release a comprehensive plan for fall reopening by the second week of July.   There are many moving parts to this comprehensive plan that will also require guidance from the County of Butte.

Your input is important to us.  Please complete the parent survey previously sent to you as we will use those results to fine tune the reopening plan.

As we work together to make the high schools in the Oroville Union High School District great places for kids to learn, please do not hesitate to contact me by telephone at (530)-538-2300 x 1107, or by email at if you have questions, concerns and/or comments that I can assist you with.
