Message from the Superintendent

August 2020

As we begin the 20-21 school year in distance learning, I appreciate your flexibility, patience and understanding as we start instruction on August 17, 2020.  This is a change in our board adopted calendar.  After listening to parents, students, and staff, adjusting the calendar will help assist our school community in making sure distance learning is an outstanding educational experience.  We want to make sure staff are well prepared to teach in a different format and students have the tools (Chromebooks and WIFI connectivity) to prepare for the first day of school.

Our distance learning plan is available on the District and each school’s website under the 20/21 Reopening Plan heading.  Students will be expected to attend the advisory period and complete their assignments daily.  Students have been split into an A or B schedule to allow for a reduced number of students on campus when in-person instruction resumes.

We know this is an incredible disappointment to parents, staff and especially students.  The continuance of distance learning will cause increased hardship to many families.  OUHSD remains committed to supporting families in every possible way to ensure that distance learning is a success and the social and emotional needs of our students are met.

As we work together to make the high schools in the Oroville Union High School District great places for kids to learn, please do not hesitate to contact me by telephone at (530)-538-2300 x 1107, or by email at cwillenb@ouhsd.net if you have questions, concerns and/or comments that I can assist you with.

Respectfully,

Dr. Corey Willenberg
Superintendent
