Mr. Ray Sehorn
I was first elected to the OUHSD Board of Trustees in 2016 and have made my home in Oroville since 1979. I received my BA and MA degrees from Chico State College and retired in 2000 after a 36-year career in public education, 31 of those as a teacher/administrator in the Oroville Elementary School District. From the time I was a teenager, I have been devoted to and worked with kids of all ages.
I have been active as a volunteer in the OUHSD since 1977 when I began doing public address announcing for OHS and LPHS track and field meets. After many years, I continue to enjoy doing this. I also announced home football games for OHS, LPHS, and Butte College for over 20 years. I love sports! Since 2009, I have been a member of the OUHSD Hall of Fame Committee, serving as its chairman since 2010.
I am active in our community and served on the State Theatre Advisory committee, the City of Oroville Park Commission and am on the leadership team of the local retired teachers association. Other memberships include the Butte, Colusi County, and South Oroville African American Historical Societies, Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, and an active member and past president of the Fellows Club of Oroville.
For 38 years I was happily married to Oroville native and OHS alumna, the late Charlene Tuhey. I love Oroville and its surrounding beauty, and am dedicated to doing everything I can to ensure that EVERY OUHSD student receives the optimum education and training for success in the life he/she chooses.
