About Us

Community and connection are central to who we are. Students, teachers and staff are all part of the OUHSD family. What makes us unique is our deep roots in the Oroville, CA community in Butte County, which is about 70 miles north of Sacramento, and is surrounded by natural beauty and countless opportunities for recreation in both rural and urban environments.

We are committed to providing every student with equitable educational and extra-curricular opportunities that prepare them to be college and/or career ready. Every school will have a positive climate that focuses on being safe, responsible and respectful.  We currently operate five schools:

Our comprehensive high schools include:

Oroville High School was established in 1892, making it the oldest school in the district.  This 18-acre campus serves 900 students.

Las Plumas High School was established in 1963 to alleviate the overcrowding at Oroville High School.  This 64-acre campus serves 1200 students.

Both comprehensive high schools have been upgraded over the years due to the passage of school bonds, which provided for new buildings, the modernization of many classrooms and a complete renovation of Harrison Stadium.

Prospect High School is our continuation school.  This school serves 100 students and offers a positive, small school environment with a caring and dedicated staff focused on helping students get back on track to earn their diploma.

Community Day School is re-opening for the 22/23 school year.  This small school serves 15-25 students who need extra help overcoming behavior and truancy issues.

The Oroville Adult Education Career and Technical Center serves adults in Butte County with academic and vocational programs in both Oroville and Chico. Their goal is to graduate responsible and productive citizens with strong critical thinking and academic skills by providing a rigorous, dynamic, comprehensive curriculum delivered in partnership with the community, family, and a competent, qualified staff in a safe and caring environment.

The district operates an independent study program for high school students from all schools (except CDS) who prefer to do their work from home or who have medical issues that prevent them from attending school in-person.  All students are eligible to participate in athletics and club activities at the school they are enrolled at.

Lastly, the district operates an Adult Transition Center, which serves 25 students from age 18-22 with mild to severe disabilities with continuing transition needs in the areas of independent living, career training, social awareness, leisure/recreation, continued education/training, and life-long learning opportunities.
