Wellness Policy

Our Commitment to Whole Student WellnessOroville Union High School District is dedicated to the academic, physical, and emotional well-being of every student. Our Wellness Policy promotes healthy environments that support student growth in and out of the classroom—through balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and wellness-focused education.

Key Areas of Focus

  1. Nutrition Access and Education
Students have access to nutritious meals every school day and receive quality nutrition education that fosters lifelong healthy habits. All school meals meet or exceed state and federal standards, and our cafeterias encourage healthy food choices through smart design and marketing.

  2. Physical Activity and Education
Every student benefits from age-appropriate physical education and opportunities to be active before, during, and after school. From classroom brain breaks to organized sports, movement is integrated into the school day to improve both health and learning.

  3. Smart Snacks and Celebrations
Foods sold or served outside of meal programs follow USDA Smart Snack guidelines. Whether during fundraisers, celebrations, or rewards, we promote options that support student health and wellness.

  4. Community and Staff Engagement
Parents, staff, and community members are essential to our wellness efforts. Schools host wellness events, share educational resources, and maintain open lines of communication with families. Staff wellness is also a priority, with training and resources available throughout the year.

  5. School Wellness Committee
Each school site council functions as a wellness committee, evaluating and guiding wellness policy implementation. Diverse membership ensures the perspectives of students, staff, parents, and community members are heard and represented.

Transparency and Evaluation

  • The Wellness Policy is reviewed and updated regularly based on health data, community feedback, and updated regulations.

  • Families receive annual updates and triennial evaluations are posted publicly to track progress.
