Local School Wellness Policy Grading Results (LSWP)

Oroville Union High School District regularly evaluates its Wellness Policy using the WellSAT 3.0 Tool—a comprehensive grading system that assesses how well district wellness goals align with national best practices.

This process supports continuous improvement in:

  • Nutrition education

  • Physical activity access

  • School meal programs

  • Student, staff, and family engagement

  • Wellness policy transparency and implementation


Why This Matters

Wellness policies directly impact the health, behavior, and academic performance of students. OUHSD’s commitment to a well-rounded policy ensures:

  • Access to nutritious meals

  • Opportunities for physical activity

  • Health education across grade levels

  • Equitable practices that support every student

By using the WellSAT tool, the district identifies what is working and what needs enhancement—so that wellness initiatives are not just compliant, but meaningful.

2022–2023 Results Summary

The full report includes detailed ratings on 6 wellness domains:

  6. Policy Evaluation & Implementation

Each item is rated on a 0–2 scale:

  • 0 = Not mentioned

  • 1 = Weak or partial policy

  • 2 = Fully meets or exceeds best practices

The rubric highlights strengths in areas like access to healthy school meals and nutrition promotion, and identifies action items for future policy enhancements such as PE minutes tracking and staff wellness supports.
