Authorized by Title VII of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA),
as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001
The purpose of Title VII is to support elementary and secondary schools in their efforts to ensure Native American students meet or exceed State academic content standards and student academic achievement standards. This is achieved by: In class academic support, culturally related mentoring activities, and increasing parent and community participation in the Parent Advisory Committee.
OUHSD Consortium Project
Provides educationally and culturally related academic needs of American Indians so that these students can achieve the same challenging State standards as all students. Partners of the consortium are: Oroville Union High School District-with 210 eligible students, Oroville City Elementary School District with 132 eligible students, and Thermalito Union School District with 54 eligible students. An eligible student has a completed 506 form on file. Forms are available at school sites and/or by contacting the program coordinator, David Devine, at 538-5350 x 5107. Once completed, 506 forms are good for the duration of student enrollment within the consortium.
Together the Indian Education Project works to help more students successfully complete their education both academically and culturally.
