Business Education

Þ The primary purpose of Business Education is to provide instruction for and about business. Students learn the basics of personal finance, develop techniques for making wise consumer decisions, master economic principles, and learn how businesses operate. In addition, business educators play a prominent role in developing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for students to succeed in the workforce. 

Home Economics

Þ The mission of the Home Economics Careers and Technology  is to provide high quality leadership and assistance to California high schools in order to improve student performance and to prepare students to be positive, productive members of families, the work force, and the global community.

Industrial Technology

Þ The Industrial Technology programs at OHS are designed to provide students with skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to help them gain employment in the career of their choice and the ability to work with the changing technologies of the future. We will provide you with the skills you need for College, as well as college credits for CAD Drafting, and Architectural Design.

Tech/Prep

Þ The term 'tech-prep program' means a program of study that:
  • combines at least two years of secondary education (as determined under State law) and two years of post-secondary education in a non-duplicative sequential course of study;
  • strengthens the applied academic component of vocational and technical education through the integration of academic, and vocational and technical instruction;
  • provides technical preparation in an area such as engineering technology, applied science, a mechanical, industrial or practical art or trade, agriculture, a health occupation, business, or applied economics;
  • builds student competence in mathematics, science, and communications (including through applied academics) in a coherent sequence of courses; and
  • leads to an associates degree or a certificate in a specific career field, and to high skill, high wage employment, or further education.
