OHS currently has
four certificated academic counselors on staff to assist
students:
Students can make
individual counseling appointments at any time by filling out an
appointment request form in the counseling office. Appointments can also
be made by parents and teacher referrals.
If you wish to speak with a counselor or
schedule an appointment, dial (530) 538-2320 and then the individual
counselor's extension number.
Every
spring, OHS counselors meet with both the students and parents of incoming
Freshman in group settings to explain expectations of high school, the
curriculum, post secondary options, and student support services.
In the students' Sophomore year, the counselors meet individually with
students to review their first two years of high school and to plan
for the last two years of high school, including post secondary plans and
goals.
OHS
Counselors also meet with all 9-11 grade students in the spring to help
them select classes for the next school year. Counselors distribute
grade-level requirement and graduation requirement handouts to students to
guide them as they select classes for the upcoming school year.

College
Entrance Requirements
There are three
systems of higher education in California: Community Colleges, the
California State Universities, and the University of California schools.
To attend any of these institutes of higher education requires

counselors during Academic Planning meetings. Following are the
requirements for the three different systems.
