Welcome to my Web site!

Hello my name is Rebecca Howard and I live in Oroville, CA.   Oroville is located on Highway 70, north of Sacramento in Northern California.  I have been a math teacher since 1996, first teaching middle school in Redwood Valley, CA at Eagle Peak Middle School and now teaching math at Las Plumas High School here in Oroville.

I received my B.A. in Mathematics from Sonoma State University in 1996 and my Teaching Credential from Dominican University in 1997.  My favorite math subject is Trigonometry which is the study of triangle measurement, including the infamous: sine, cosine and tangent functions.  My students can often hear me say "The Unit Circle is your friend"  as I teach them the difference between radian and degree measure.

Besides graduating with a math degree from Sonoma State I also played two years of Division II Intercollegiate Basketball under Coach Susan Zachensky-Walthall.  My junior college coach at San Diego Mesa Community College, Lisa Williams, influenced me to continue playing basketball and someday have the chance to coach at the high school level.  She was the first person to suggest that I become a teacher, and I will be eternally grateful for her suggestion.  I have been very lucky to have a job that I enjoy every day!
