This class is designed to assist the student in learning how
to study. Because the lack of organization is the number one reason
for failure at a secondary level, the students are required to keep
assignment calendars.
I put an emphasis on test taking strategies, which are
designed to take the "wild" out of wild guessing. We also practice
good writing techniques, note taking, basic math, and reading comprehension.
A significant portion of this class is spent in preparation
for the California High School Exit Exam as well as the STAR tests.
Although this is not a study "hall", the students are given
time to do their homework, use computers, and also get assistance in
completing their homework assignments.
Students also learn about their IEP's and how to become
their own advocates.
