At Las Plumas High school, this course includes two levels of biology
College Preparatory Biology and General Biology .
College Preparatory Biology
Course Description |
This course is designed for the average
to above average student. This course gives students a
good foundation in cell biology, genetics, ecology, evolution,
and physiology. Emphasis is placed on laboratory investigation
including possible dissection to reinforce understanding and
provide practical application to biological principles. This
course meets CSU and UC A-G subject requirement and the life
science graduation requirement. |
Prerequisites |
Freshmen must be enrolled concurrently
in Geometry and show evidence that they are ready for this level
course. The course is designed primarily for sophomores. |

General Biology
Course Description |
This is a non-college preparatory
course designed for students who do not have a strong science
background. It introduces major biological concepts including
cell biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, and physiology. Emphasis
is placed on laboratory investigation including possible dissection
to reinforce understanding and provide practical application
to biological principles. This class satisfies the life science
core curriculum requirement for graduation. |

Must be in grades 10-12. |
