U.S. HistoryGuidelines
I. RulesSAFE – Act appropriately RESPONSIBLE – Be on time + Be prepared for class.* You are tardy if you enter the classroom after the bell has rung, or within the first half of class. Only a note from a teacher or the office can excuse a tardy. Consequences for tardies: Students will sign their name and be given a lunch detention. RESPECTFUL – One person talks at a time + treat others as you would be treated + everyone has values and deserves the opportunity to learn. *Show respect for your classmates, teacher, and classroom in what you say and do. Consequences for unacceptable behavior will vary depending on the individual circumstances but may include: Verbal reminder Placement on the District 9 Step Plan
II. Grades1. The grading scale is as follows: A = 90%-100% B = 80%-89% C =70%-79% D = 60% - 69% F = <59% (summer school). 2. All test, assignments, homework, and projects are assigned a point value according to difficulty and time invested (many extra credit opportunities exist to help students who are not earning the grade they want). 3. All course work turned in will be graded as a continued point total for each semester. At each semester, the student’s point total will start at zero. 4. Calendars and point sheets will be provided to assist in becoming more organized and self- reliant. Please store these papers in your social science section of your spiral notebook or 3 ring binder.
III. Absences:
IV. Passes:
V. Expectations: I expect all students to be safe, Respectful, Responsible, Willing to learn, Participate, Honest, Organized, Cooperative, and have a Positive Attitude.
*Students will be assigned homework on average of four days per week. Homework may be considered finishing the day’s assignment. Homework will either be collected in thematic “packets” or notebook checks near test or project due dates. Therefore, test performance, classroom assignments, and homework is especially important. Procrastinating on homework harm’s one’s grade as well as their performance on one’s test. I also ask that students read the paper, national news magazines, and / or watch the nightly news to become familiar with current events. Parents can also help by asking to see their son or daughter’s calendar of assignments for more information on subject and / or homework for the week.
