The following activities help each student become an:

 

Effective Communicator: 

1.1  Listens effectively and requests clarification when needed.

· Works collaboratively in groups on various team projects and problem solving scenarios.

1.2  Articulates ideas clearly, creatively, and effectively in standard English.

· Raises his / her hand and asks to be called on to speak.

 

Critical Thinker:

2.1  Identifies the problem and the information needs.

· Uses practical life skills to solve problems and act appropriately in class.

2.2  Analyses, synthesizes, and evaluates information and strategies to solve problems.

· Implement appropriate strategies:  order of operations, formulas, or basic operations to solve.

 

Quality Producer:

3.1 Creates intellectual, artistic, and practical products and services.

·Meeting goals and objectives on IEP, including core and vocational courses

·Producing the highest quality work on all assignments.

 

Self – Directed Learner:

4.1 Assesses his / her strengths and weaknesses; and designs, establishes and pursues academic, personal and career goals.

·Monitor work for errors and self – correct

·Students are responsible for getting make – up work or arrange a testing time with instructor for absences.

 

Collaborative Worker:

5.1 Develops the skills for effective cooperation and communication with peers and adults.

·All students will work collaboratively in a safe environment, focusing on problem solving.

5.2  Uses leadership and group skills to work effectively as a member of a self – directed team.

·Assign group roles, stay on task, work towards completion of project.

 

Ethical Decision Maker:

6.1 Accepts responsibility for his / her own behavior, personal liberty, and happiness.

·Have students monitor his / her own behavior.

·Have students take responsibility for their actions.

 

 Community Contributor:

7.2 Demonstrates tolerance and appreciation of individual differences.

·Recognize the importance that every member of the classroom is an important contributor.

·Promote self – awareness of individual differences here on campus.

·Develop lessons which specifically address tolerance issues among within the Las Plumas environment.
