Horticulture

In Horticulture most of our work deals with plants. We learn how to create our own soil and the proper way to pot and grow the variety of plants. We are usually outside with the plants doing "hands on" activities. In addition to learning how to make soil and pot plants, we also study the plants, their names and from where they originate. Horticulture is a great class; its fun and I always try to keep it new and interesting. There is hardly ever any homework and every year I form a team so that we can go to field-days and competitions. It’s a lot of fun so come and check it out!!

Forestry

In Forestry we study plant identification and tool identification as well as other exercises that would help in study the forest environment. Every year the kids that sign up for the class go and compete in competitions. We study everyday and we choose a day to meet after school to practice. There are weekends that we go on trips up to different forests to practice. My team usually does fairly well in competitions, last year they placed 3rd in finals! It’s a great class and its for the adventurous type, so come and check us out if you are interested.
