Outside Reading:
In addition, all students must read at least three outside books and complete a project based on their reading.
The Persuasive Essay:
The writing focus for this year is the persuasive essay. Students will learn the structure and format of the basic persuasive essay, as well as techniques to improved their persuasive abilities. During the course of the year, students must compose at least ten persuasive essays.
The Business Letter:
In addition, students will learn the traditional structure format of the business letter.
They will apply their knowledge in each following.
A Letter of Application
A Letter of Complaint
A Request for Information
Writing Mechanics:
Students will improve their writing, and learn standards of consistent grammar, spelling and punctuation.
